SPECTACLE LENSES

At Parker Sedgemore Opticians we like to ensure that all our patients have a combination of well suited frames and lenses for their prescriptions and therefore we supply a large variety of  spectacle lenses.  Our suppliers range from Essilor, Rodenstock, Zeiss, Seiko, Pentax, Nikon and Transitions.

Spectacle lenses come in mainly three designs of vision correction.  The type of plastic can vary to give thinner and more robust lenses.  The lenses can then be coated to make the lenses more durable and cosmetically more pleasing.

SINGLE VISION LENSES

Single vision lenses will correct your general purpose, distance, computer, or reading prescriptions.  If you have more than one prescription then the single vision lens will not correct both so a different design lens will have to be supplied.

BIFOCAL LENSES

A bifocal lens can correct two different prescriptions which would usually be distance and reading.  Other combinations might be for computer work and reading, TV and reading, or any other combination.
A bifocal demonstration can be given and this will demonstrate the lenses very easily.   There are different design bifocals available: the little round bifocal lenses; the D shape bifocals; the curved D shape; the  executive.  We can help you decide which will be best for you and your pocket.

The D shape bifocal is available in a mid-index and high-index plastic.

All the coatings are available, and the transitions on the D shape lens.

TRIFOCAL LENSES

As above but three prescriptions in one lens.  These lenses are an alternative to varifocals.

VARIFOCAL LENSES

Varifocal lenses are made by a number of manufacturers.  Once the manufacturer is chosen, the design of varifocal needs to decided:
"It's a bit like buying an old mini.  You can buy a bog standard Mini or a Mini Mayfair, which has all the extras which makes it more comfortable."   Of course it will cost more and need extra measurements.

The lenses can be made to measure, which need extra measurements.  These lenses are so specifically designed that they come in different progression lengths so they fit shallow to conventional shape frames.

The semi-made to measure lenses are made with more modern technology to aid the precision of the vision, for both distance, intermediate and reading.

The "free form" design lenses are very popular nowadays and come in many designs.

The good old favourites are also still available and very popular still.

All the above lenses are available in the transitions tint, thinner design plastics, and the coatings available on all other lenses.
